Tea Party

My new exhibition 'Tea Party' opened on Thursday night at Hand Held Gallery.
An exhibition of works made from tea bag paper.
My work reflects on the heirloom items of an older generation as they fade into insignificance. What was once treasured is now ephemeral and throw away.
Recycled 'throw away' material is printed and formed and in its new form challenges our understanding of what fragility and preciousness actually is.

PEG IS 40 by Brydie Dyson

Brydie Dyson's 'Peg is 40' opening last Thursday night at Hand Held
One of the first entire installations in the gallery space Brydie's work was created partly individually and partly as community based projects.

Embroidered texts, cast seed pods and fascinating voice recordings are all inspired by an innocuous peice of graffiti 'Peg is 40'

A great crowd attended the opening.

Fly me to the Moon

'fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars... Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars'

Kate Gorringe-Smith's new exhibition at Hand Held explores the annual journey of the bar tailed Godwit as it makes it's journey chasing the sun across the globe - a journey that over a lifetime takes them the equivalent distance to that of the earth to the sun.

This exhibition is inspired by these tiny navigators: the miracle and mystery of their journeys, their beauty, and the way they embody our own hopes and dreams.
